About
Our Mission
MedCare Explorers was created to help kids and teens feel brave, calm, and capable when something goes wrong. We turn real first aid skills into clear, simple lessons so young people know what to do while adults or emergency services are on the way.
Our mission is to make lifesaving knowledge a normal part of growing up—just like learning to read, ride a bike, or cross the street safely.
Who We Are
Dr. Huma Irshad, MD – Family Medicine
Dr. Irshad is a family medicine physician who has cared for patients of all ages. She brings her real‑world experience from clinics and hospitals into the classroom, making sure every skill we teach is safe, practical, and based on current first aid guidelines.
Her focus is on helping young people stay calm, think clearly, and take smart, simple actions when faced with an emergency.
Zoha Irshad – 7th Grader at The Town School, NY
Zoha is a 7th grader at The Town School in New York with a big heart and a strong desire to help others. She believes that kids shouldn’t have to wait until they are adults to learn how to save a life, and she wants her classmates and friends to feel confident, not scared, in an emergency.
Zoha helps shape MedCare Explorers from a student’s point of view: she tests activities, gives feedback on what is fun or confusing, and suggests ways to explain ideas so they make sense to kids her age. She especially enjoys turning serious topics into games, challenges, and simulations that feel exciting instead of overwhelming.
Her enthusiasm for teaching first aid comes from knowing that even small actions—calling for help quickly, staying calm, or doing simple first aid steps—can make a huge difference. Through MedCare Explorers, Zoha hopes to inspire other young people to see themselves as everyday heroes in their schools, homes, and communities.
Alizah Khalid– Resident Doctor
